What is the John Buccigross challenge?

You’ve probably noticed people on Twitter using the John Buccigross overtime challenge. I’m ashamed personally to not have had any idea as to what the hell that was. As much as I thought I was in the know when it came to all things NHL, I just found out what it was and its absolutely the greatest thing on twitter.

Give whoever credit who thought of this but here is how it works and before I show you, I must warn- its addicting.

Any game that goes to Overtime in the NHL, Twitter users can tweet Buccigross two players that they think will score the goal that wins the game. One on each team. If they select that player, Buccigross Retweets them usually all the time. If thousands pick the player its harder to get the RT. What is becoming a cult fad is picking less likely players in order to get the RT.

Notice my picks above.

I picked Scott Wilson of Pittsburgh, I know who is that really? and Tanner Glass who played less than 10 minutes in the first 30. He might not have had a chance to see the ice- let alone score the winning goal. But I still picked him anyway. It’s all part of the fun. Unfortunately, the Pittsburgh Penguins lost the New York Rangers as soon as I typed this.

Then these girls cheered me up. Thanks Bucci!

I almost forgot to finish my article on account of the girls.

Sometimes if you win, Buccigross makes an appearance at a random place.

Notice the picture of him with the hockey team.

Good fun. Plus all the merchandise he sells is for charity!
