It gets better

dez-bryant

Within the last hour of negotiations, Dez Bryant had received the news he had been waiting for: He got his deal, not just any deal but 70 million dollars and a five year contract, but I’m not writing to speak on his deal.

I’m pretty sure people know about the Dez Bryant deal if you are a fan of #88 and the Dallas Cowboys, but my focus is on the trials he had to overcome to get to be able to call himself a Dallas Cowboy.

Let’s look at the events leading up to all the drama. First, you had an amazing catch by Dez Bryant that was ruled, not a catch, talk about upsetting to Cowboy fans, I threw a comb at the wall and broke it, but it also, meant, the end of the season for Dallas with the ball in Dez hands. Oh, no! All the talk about that play, but can you imagine how Dez felt, but to top it off, they start talking about his attitude and even Cowboy fans had something to say. They were calling him arrogant and exposing what he was doing in his personal time, asking questions like, if he was fit to get a contract with Dallas. I mean they had so much to say about him, but all that isn’t even the upsetting part. With all the media coverage surrounding other football players who was caught on camera beating on their girlfriend, they tried to say that he did the same. Why were they so determined to destroy his career? They never even released the “tape,” that they said they had, hitting his baby mama. Wow! So, all that, and he had to wait to see if he was going to be a Dallas Cowboy. With hash tags like #pay88 on twitter, which I participated in, by the way, and others, you would think that the owners heard the fans and signed him a long time ago, but they didn’t. Things almost got really ugly before the due date to sign him. Dez was threatening to leave on his twitter account. No, Dez, don’t do it! I had to reply with a sad face. How could I be mad at him? But, to see other fans say he can just leave. Wow, really, so he doesn’t deserve to be paid his fair share? Hmm!

Nevertheless, the day came, and we go back to the top of this article. It happened, and that is what is bringing me to tears because just when you think you’ve had enough, done enough, pushed hard enough, things turn around, for our good. He could have walked away, others saw his talent, he could have shined somewhere else, but his determination and will power got him in the door that he really wanted to be in. I became more than proud of him, but it changed me, I wanted to push just as hard to pursue my dreams, no matter what. God gave him a testimony that many got to witness, right before his haters eyes, and I know if God can do that for him, He surely will do it for me.

Thank you!

I saw him

On Father’s Day, my dad sat in memory while he spoke with his grandkids (my son and daughter) on how he never really never knew his dad. He said once, he walked by him and didn’t even know who he was. He let it be known that he still loves his dad.

Boots was my papa’s name. I never met him. He died when my dad was a teen, murdered by the hands of a child that wasn’t his. He left behind many children that from my father’s eyes still grieve for him. They still wonder why he never played a bigger part. You would think at 56, my dad wouldn’t be as affected but the drift that he had in his eyes when he spoke of him, let’s me know that he still desired his love that he more than likely felt he never received. When he spoke about him you could hear this sadness in his voice. I wondered why my dad drifted to that space in time. Was this the Father’s Day to reflect on the past, to hold on to moments that can’t be controlled? And, why would my dad still care? Is it because he saw my children who lack their father in their life? Life isn’t fair and I don’t expect people who have choices to choose to remain where they feel they don’t have too, but I try to teach my children to appreciate those who are there. They make up for that empty void that absent people can make and I teach them to move on. We can’t change how that person feels.

Maybe, if my dad had someone there to help him understand he didn’t have to feel that emptiness then maybe he wouldn’t have felt it within that moment or ever let his children feel such pain. Love is a protector from the ways of the world we cannot change. It doesn’t change the world, it just gives the seeker the ability to see the beauty that is here. My dad didn’t grow up with a shortage of loved ones and he has seven grandchildren now, including my two. Life has given him a second chance to fill that void with so much love that maybe next Father’s Day he will just briefly speak on what lesson he took from his dad and bless his atmosphere for all the abundance of love that he has been awarded with. God sees his capability of love that is why he is filling his home, so the presences of a child’s laughter will forever fill the walls saying you are forgiven.

We can’t change yesterday. He may have walked by you dad, but he gave you a gift to keep on walking. He blessed you to see the people that are willing to remain. When you held your grandchildren it wasn’t to tell them a sad story, but their presence was a reminder of how truly bless you are. You have come a mighty long way and you should be very proud of yourself. I am!

She needs you

You may think that it is the mother’s job to raise that young girl fine. You may feel that all you have to do is protect her and give her what she needs but that is untrue.

Your arms is the very place she needs to run and hide, and she must feel secure there. She must know that she will never be abused there. She needs to know that if it gets dark outside you will be the light standing there. Her mother can only pour so much into her soul. You must make up the rest. If you are willing to show your face to her. If her little hands felt your face as she slept within your arms, then please, be there because she needs you.

You have security flowing out of your veins and your daughter sees it. She will build her very foundation of love on the soils of what you teach. Please don’t let her build on a home on quick sand because you refused to give her the proper tools to know which way to go.

Her first dance should be with you. Her laughter should come from your joke. Her first pull out of a chair should be from your hands. No guy should ever be able to manipulate her into believing that he is the best thing that ever happen to her, no, within that moment she should be able to say, my memory of my dad pushing me on a tire swing trumps what you could ever do for me. He always was there for me. He watched me sleep. When I was sick, he was always there. When Competition time came, he was my biggest cheerleader rooting me on. You can never replace his love for it is rooted in me, and it will remain. He nurtured the seed so I can blossom into the gorgeous woman I am.

Remember, through it all, she will need you to the very end. Try your best to take time out with your daughter. Remind her of the love that only a father can give, and if you aren’t ready to be a dad, make sure you stay away, so she can embrace all the love God will send to fill that void.

Thank you!

MAY 2015

5-MAY

MAY 2015

Public service announcement: Why do you wait until she is gone to love her?

Yeah, my question, at the top called the title, needs an answer. I really don’t get it. You have her loving you, I mean she has literally planned on spending the rest of her life with you, she saw herself walking down the aisle, in her head, with you. She had her dress picked out? Where the flowers will go? Why would you throw away the love you claim you had?

isle

Why not just be there from the beginning? Why not let her know she is appreciated from the start instead of mistreating her and being mean? Did she deserve to be hurt? No, so, why not protect her from you doing it again? I know why because your ego wouldn’t let you believe that she would ever leave you! Um, NEWSFLASH, how many exes she has? She clearly doesn’t stay where she isn’t wanted. She moves on with her life, so, she will do the same to you, think about it?

I have an ex now that desires me back but what for when he had me and totally dissed me when he did. I never got to meet his friends or family and we were together for almost two years. I mean seriously, what the hell do you want me back for, again? What exactly are you missing? Is it sex? Ha, can’t you just have sex with anyone? Don’t get me wrong he is a great human being, but I waited for so long just to know what it felt like for him to pull my chair out and have on a decent pair of clothes on; to go to a movie with him and share popcorn. I wanted him not to be ashamed of me and show me off to his family. Ugh, everything about what we had is making me mad all over again? Seriously, can someone pleaseeee tell me why he wants me back?

Thank you!

Running Shoes

Do you guys remember the movie The Runaway Bride? It is a classic starring Julia Roberts. She is being what every guy desires her to be when she falls in love with them until it is time to get married and she takes off running. I mean they didn’t see she had running shoes on and not heels? Anyway, she ran so much that she became a big time story for a reporter from New York. He even fell in love with her, and he was so charming. He, for sure, thought she wouldn’t run away from him. He was everything she had desired right? Wrong! She couldn’t identify with herself. Even the eggs she liked were all based on what the guy liked. She had no clue who she was in all her mess. Eventually, she discovered herself and was able to get her prince charming back. She had a real wedding and lived happily ever after.

Runaway_bride

Now, I definitely didn’t write this article to speak on Julia Roberts, even though, she is pretty awesome, and I will love to meet her one day, but because (where is that emoticon that puts his hand over his face, I need it) Hi, my name is Matasha and I am a runner. Hi, Matasha. Hi, (insert sad face). I am a runner. It is so hard to admit it, but I am in love with a great guy and I feel like it is a burden to love him. I am so use to people running when the going gets tough, I mean, even me, so much so that I am willing to ask, “Are your bags packed yet?” I don’t look for anyone to endure with me. I have learned to be a parent on my own, raising two kids, boy and a girl, and I am just use to being independent. I don’t know how to share me with someone else. I love my own company. I can make myself laugh and entertain myself all day, but what am I suppose to do with another? Being with someone is like learning you all over again through someone else and you are trying to figure out how do you keep this person around. What makes this person want to stay? Is it me who must put for the effort or he? I don’t know, so, since, I don’t know, I put on my running shoes (that I don’t own, more like a pointy toe flat) and run. I run far away, until I’m like woo, that was close. He almost had a chance to love me, not this time, and then I am back in my comfort zone, alone, and not looking, until the madness happens again.

I don’t wish to run from him, though because he is such an amazing guy, but Julia Roberts saw Richard Gere as amazing and she still took off running, no matter what he did to make her stay to show her that he was the one she needed to fall in love with, nothing he did could make her stay until she was ready to love him. (I told myself I wouldn’t cry. Dang it) I am a Gemini, so, do not hold me accountable for my words that I am about to say because I am in my feelings and eating junk food, and tomorrow I might not even feel this way, I may be on cloud nine, until I come down, but I feel like running away like Forest Gump back to my comfort zone, and not having a care in the world about ever walking down the aisle, but I know I can’t. I know I will cry if he leaves. If he tells me tomorrow it is over I probably would be devastated, so, I must learn to endure, and that first starts with, ugh, I don’t want to say it, taking off my running shoes. I have to learn to endure, even if that means blind folding my eyes until I am truly capable of not wanting to take off running. I am capable of being someone’s wife (cringing at the word). I am capable of being in a long lasting relationship. I hope. I think I need to be writing Steve Harvey Morning Show in the strawberry letter than writing this article, but I really felt to write it. Maybe, there are others with the same feelings as me that have desired to just take off running and don’t look back, but really desire a chance at real love. He doesn’t want me to leave. He wants me to stay. He loved me from the moment he laid eyes on me. He wanted me then.

Where are the blind-folds? I think I am ready? Oh!

Road Rage

Does road rage come with the territory of driving? I have been driving on and off for a while, but I’ve recently been able to consistently drive, like get up and go on my own, and the people on the road are crazy. I mean I am like a baby being winged off her mommy’s boobs, and I go strictly by the book, so, yes when I am driving I go the speed limit, even when I want to speed, and my definition of speeding is being over the speed limit, no higher than 5, lol, like, I feel like a cop is going to pull me over in any second for going that little over, or I will go into a seminar and they will talk about the people that doesn’t act with integrity when no one is looking. The cops are just as bad. I had a cop to get behind me, and I was going the speed limit, not over, but the exact, and he went around me and started going faster. I am like, really, you don’t suppose to do that, now, I feel like the square that obeys the laws, but what am I to do when I still have my driver instructor still screaming at me in my ear? Okay, maybe, I went too far, emotionally, in that last sentence, and now, you think I’m crazy, but when people are blowing at me for doing the right thing I can’t help but to want to flip them off and call them an idiot, and it comes out of nowhere, lol. One minute I am singing my favorite tune, next minute, I am cussing someone out for not letting me over when they clearly seen me trying to get over. What am I to do, lol?

road-rage-1

I literally have to pray that I will have a great attitude on the road and forgiveness for those who I get angry at. I have to realize that they don’t understand and are operating in the way that they know, but who gave them their licenses, like, seriously, I went through hell to be able to drive my babies around. I walked for so long just hoping for the day when I will be able to drive and not walk. I finally got to that day and I am driving aside a maniac that clearly desires to commit suicide because they wait until you are really close to jump out in front of you. Hello, it isn’t even twelve noon, yet, and you are on the bottle? Why, why do they get to drive like a bat out of hell, and I have to be safety Dave? (Dave sounds like a safety name, lol, poor Dave, or Sally, lol) I get tired of obeying the laws and I want to speed, but I have a conscious and I actually use it and Lord, knows I don’t desire not to show gratitude, through discipline, for all God has done for me. He made a way for me to be able to have a car that I didn’t even pay for. I can’t get on the road and cause other people harm.

RAGE

So, yeah, even in my road rage, I learn to humble myself, and to me, road rage comes with the territory of driving because of all the frustration. We have phones that must move at the speed of light, and devices. So, I completely understand why we desire to move just as fast on the road. I read about a guy that shot his computer because it ran slow, so, yeah, the road is hardly any different. People get emotional and I can’t blame them. You are trying to get from point A to point B, and God knows you don’t want anyone getting in your way, just go read your book first before you cut me off again. Thank you!

Just accept the damn compliment

“You look nice today,” I would say to a random stranger or someone I know, and most of the time, their reply will be, “I do, really?” I get so annoyed at them I just desire to take the compliment back. Like, no, you look like a fat cow. I mean just accept the compliment. Is it so hard to just say, “Thank you?”

compliment

Hey, we have all been at that point of insecurities and I was bullied as a kid. I can understand how it feels to be teased by other people, but I still loved me, even if it was in secret and old people too. They adored me and always called me pretty. I got use to saying, thank you. When people would talk about me, I never agreed with what they said, on the inside, even if I seemed to be affected by it. I knew my qualities and always saw myself as a beautiful girl. Now, that I am a woman, I love me, even more, and the very people that use to tease me, now, put me in the pretty girl crowd, or, “I think I’m too much.” That is when I say, really, you think so. You know why because those people were the very ones that made me feel low, but I didn’t dare give up on being a beautiful woman. In the end, my name will transform to being Beauty. I have already built a brand around Beauty and hope to one day expand it, till, when you think of Beauty, you think of me, and what I represent it. My ugly background story will develop into me being an intelligent writer, designer, singer, musician, and overall creator. I have high hopes and big dreams. See, I have went so long into talking about me that I have deviated from the topic, but it still all makes sense, you have to love you, so much so, that you could live in your own little world, by yourself, and still be able to put a smile on your face. I’ve been driven to insanity, and so many alone times that I had to develop my own unique, imaginary crowd, until I had willing ears to hear. You have to learn to be so comfortable in your skin that you dress up, for you, and do not accept anything differently. I had to fight to be me, so, when someone tells me I am beautiful, I say, why, thank you. I say thank you because I am proud of me, that’s right, I am proud of the beautiful woman I have become and becoming.

compliments

I take compliments in strive and (don’t tell anyone), but anticipate them, and if I don’t receive one before the day is over, well, I am bound to tell myself, lol. I am a compliment seeker and so genuinely give them away, so when I tell you that you are beautiful, it is because I mean it, or I wouldn’t tell you. If I tell you your eyes are like gold then let them shine in the light. God created you to be one unique soul there is no one else like you. You are beautiful. Now, accept the damn compliment. Thank you!

jennyJenny Ainslie-Turner

Undoubtedly, a sex chat girl of too many years and yet, I still can’t get enough of it. It is so diverse and at the same time so entertaining I never tire of it. I have even written a book on my life as a sex chat girl, ‘How to Talk Dirty – A Hands on Guide to Phone Sex’. I have been training girls in the art of talking dirty for the past 3 years and have even starred in my own TV documentary, ‘My Phone Sex Secrets’.
Since which, I have been interviewed on a popular daytime TV show, done several Radio interviews and at one time had a regular guest spot on Fubar radio. An uncensored, internet station on which the first week I talked about buggering the male presenter.

I have done countless magazine interviews including, Mayfair and Escort’s men’s mags. I have even been part of a relationship advice panel for a large UK newspaper. Also, have written articles for Rude Magazine, a female based online mag.

I have since written a second book, a fiction novel about auto-erotic asphyxiation and based around the life of a sex chat girl who is taken over by the alter ego she created to take the more bizarre and depraved sex chat. Entitled, Will You be My Fantasy? Some say it should have been called, ‘Death by Pussy!’ Well, it’s what you guys crave the most.

I have been married twice, worn them out. Now single, free and able to just explore. And, because of this I have started a new adventure. It’s taking recorded stories into the 21st century, phone sex downloads. I call them iwanks, a bit like itunes only much dirtier. You can download a very naughty sex chat, recorded by me on to your mobile and use me whenever those spunk filled balls need emptying!

A 40 year old father of one just trying to guide my little man down a better and less bumpy path than his old man. I consider myself a college football know it all. I’m the equivalent of a hipster football fan. “My favorite player, you’ve never heard of him”. Grew up on a farm and was able to subsidize my education through football and yes the college I played at you’ve never heard of. I wasn’t what you would call a Division One talent. Actually played for Rich Rodriquez for a short period of time in the spread before it had a name. Grew up in West Virginia and Ohio, yet remain an avid fan and supporter of WVU.

brettBrett Martzke

Brett Martzke is a TV sports veteran. Over the past 20 years he has worked at the Golf Channel, CNN Sports, Fox Sports Net, TVG and NBC Sports. You name the sports event, he has covered it. As an avid sports lover he was even crazy enough to follow a lifelong dream and open up a Sports Bar. Once that dream started to turn into a nightmare, Brett realized writing about and covering sports events was better than working in a kitchen, taking orders at a register and hoping to catch a glance at a TV while running Buffalo wings out to a table. Brett’s big sports achievement is that he is the self-proclaimed carnival basketball shooting champion. If there is a big stuffed animal on the line, Brett will win it.

An avid sports fan, he’s written for sites such as Bleacher Report & Thoughts From The Dark Side, but will be given the freedom here to mix in the funny – no matter how unflattering he may seem to the average dummy. Born & raised in the Bay Area, he doesn’t pull any punches; having developed a sense of humor one might describe as, ‘edgy’. He appears regularly at comedy clubs such as Tommy T’s, Laughs Unlimited, and The World Famous Comedy Store. Peep his blog for upcoming show dates and see if he’ll soon be in your town. Hey Dudes! I am Martin Phillips. I am a sixth grade teacher by day in Lodi, California, the Zinfandel capital of the world, and a kickass home cook by night. Okay, I am inside my own mind, at least. You can decide for yourself, however, and check out my food blog at inhousecook.blogspot.com and watch for my recipes HERE at StuffDudesLike.com! I have been a sixth grade teacher for fifteen years, so Nothing scares me! I have been a home cook for twelve years and have entered the small in-home catering market this last year. It has been an amazing ride and I cannot wait to share my recipes with you. I am a firm believer that bacon, pork belly, tacos, pizza, pasta and burgers should be food groups. BBQ is Heaven. Need I say more? Okay fine, I am good with the veggies, too! I cook a wide variety of dishes, from Asian Infusion to traditional carne asada and carnitas, to buffalo burgers, to elegant pastas and rustic pizzas. Look me up and give me a shout!

nancyNancy Brown Lady Barber

I was born in Berkeley, California before the Summer of Love. When it came I was old enough to know that I lived in a very special place in a very special time. Dang that I was not old enough to attend any of the cool stuff.

We are native Californians for three generations on my mother’s side of the family. Before that, Norway. Dad’s people were Oakies who fled the dust bowl in the ‘30s and ended up in Solano County.

For nearly 20 years I was a law librarian for private law firms in Oakland, California. Quit that in 2006 for the much groovier trade of barbering. Nowadays I groom gentlemen for a living and paint (in oil) Oakland, its people and trees. I also garden and cat whisper when necessary.

brianBrian Kaider

As a patent and trademark attorney, I get to work with a lot of interesting start-up companies and see fascinating new products. Whenever possible, I love to combine my work with the things that I’m passionate about, like craft beer, motorcycles, lacrosse, and woodworking. But, after a day of staring at a computer or talking on the phone, I need to work with my hands. So, you’ll often find me building something in my workshop, making pens, changing the exhaust on my Suzuki Boulevard M109R, growing hops to make my own beer, or cooking up something spicy in the kitchen and never from a recipe. At the end of the day, I’ll grab a nice porter and watch pro football or college lacrosse, where I’m rooting for the Baltimore Ravens or Towson Tigers (or whoever is playing against Johns Hopkins), respectively.
